Chateau Fonroque purchased by the Guillard family

Chateau Fonroque, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, has been purchased by CHG Participations, the family holding company of Hubert Guillard, the founder of creditor protection insurance company, CBP, who also owns the five star Hotel Le Burgundy in Paris.

Chateau Fonroque is situated on the plateau of Saint-Emilion and has been classified as a Grand Cru Classé estate since the first classification of Saint-Emilion in 1955. The estate includes 17 hectares of vines certified for organic and biodynamic production. It belonged to Claude et Jeanne-André Curat and their nephew Alain Moueix, who took over management of the estate in 2001 from Établissements Jean Pierre Moueix en 2001, 70 years after its acquisiiton by his great grandparents, Jean et Adèle Moueix.
